California Poppy Tincture for Anxiety, Insomnia, and Pain

California Poppy Tincture

A tincture is a type of herbal medicine where a plant is soaked in at least 80 proof alcohol for at least a month. The alcohol extracts the medicinal properties of the plant, which is then stored in a dark bottle which protects it from light and weakening the medicine. The herbal tincture is taken in relatively small doses (depending on the plant and what we’re treating) mixed in juice or water. Tinctures are my favorite way to take medicine, plus they are super easy and fun to make!

Your body is able to utilize the compounds of the plant where it is needed to promote healing. Each plant has different medicinal properties and you can make a tincture out of one plant, or several.

This is a tincture I made from organic local cali poppies back in April. They were blooming and looked extremely healthy and have an amazing array of medicinal benefits.

I used the full plant and not the root, although the root is medicinal as well. I used an 80% vodka to extract the healing properties of the plant.

California poppies are hands DOWN one of the best herbs for anxiety relief, insomnia, and pain. If you are up at night and can’t seem to settle your mind down, this is the plant for you. It calms you down and relaxes your mind so you can have a good nights rest.

There are times where I have horrible anxiety and am up late tossing and turning. One of my least favorite things is being tired in the day, I do not function well. I need 8-9 hours of undisturbed sleep to be a happy, functioning human.

If you take this tincture during the day, you won’t be drowsy and sleepy. It will however, help with your anxiety levels as it has a euphoric effect.

When I got my wisdom teeth out 2 weeks ago, this tincture literally saved my life. It helped me sleep and also significantly lowered my pain. It’s a MUCH healthy alternative to many other sleep aids such as Tylenol PM (which is hard on our liver and depletes our glutathione levels) and NyQuil which is loaded with toxic ingredients and fake colors.

I am making another small batch of this tincture which I will have available for sale soon, so if you would like to order one for presale, check out my shop
